Stockeld Park Visit

Destination

Stockeld Park, Wetherby

Date

Thursday 14th December 2017

Year Group

Year 2 – Year 6 (Poplar, Oak, Larch, Cedar, Hazel, Fir and Spruce)

Time

9:00am – 6.00pm. The visit will last the full day so please be on time for school and try not to arrange any appointments on this date. We will endeavour to return back to school by 6.00pm.   However, please be aware that heavy traffic sometimes causes a delay which is out of our control. We will try to keep you informed of any such delays. Due to the late return to school all children must be picked up by a responsible adult.   Please state who will be collecting your child on the attached consent form.

Adults

There will be a total of 30 adults on the visit. Adults will include school staff/school governors/parent helpers and students currently on placement in school.

Cost of the Visit

To help cover the cost of the visit we are asking for a parental contribution of £16.70. Payments can be made via the epayment system or by cash/cheque at the school office. Parental contributions are important because as a school we are unable to financially support the full costs of all visits. School will be subsidising the children’s Christmas visits this year by over £1200. If we do not receive enough contributions towards the visit we may not be able to organise such experiences in the future. Due to the cost there has been no individual class visits this Autumn Term. If you are unable to make this payment, then please contact Mrs Jenner in the school office on 0191 5536093 to discuss a payment plan or to see if you may be considered to apply for a school bursary. Payments can be made in weekly instalments.

Aim of the Educational Visit

Stockeld Park in Yorkshire is where magic is made and adventures begin! Nestled within ancient woodland, Stockeld Park hosts a Christmas treat that everyone will love. The park has a real outdoor ice skating rink, an Enchanted Forest filled with interactive sculptures and a playground, a huge snowflake maze and a Nordic ski trail. Children will have the opportunity to spend the full day at the park participating in these wonderful festive activities. Not only is our aim to bring the magic to Christmas to all the children but to develop many personal skills including; teamwork, communication, resilience, determination and physical skills. At the end of this fun packed day everyone will enjoy a hot chocolate while they soak up the Christmas atmosphere of the park. If you would like to have a look at where we will be going, you can visit the website www.stockeldpark.co.uk or look at the video on our school website.

Lunch Arrangement

Year 2 children will be provided with a school packed lunch under the Universal Free Infant School Meals Scheme. The school will provide children entitled to a free school meal with a packed lunch. All other children will need to bring their own packed lunch. Remember children carry their own bags on the visit.

Clothing

Children will need to wear warm waterproof clothing. Coat, hat and gloves are essential – children need gloves for skating and skiing. Throughout the day children will wear skating and ski boots so it is recommended that they wear or bring a thick pair of socks with them.  Please ensure your child is wearing comfortable shoes/wellingtons that you don’t mind getting dirty and that they are suitable for walking around Stockeld Park. Please note, children will be outside for most of the day, so they need to be warm.
