Ghyll Head Residential Visit Information
A residential visit has been booked for all Year 4/5 children (Mr Rippon and Ms Wright classes) to Windermere. The visit to Ghyll Head Outdoor Education Centre in Windermere will take place from Monday 12th December – Wednesday 14th December 2016. The cost of this visit will be £55 per child. However, school are contributing £25 using Pupil Premium Funding/school budget to enable all children to go for a cost of £30.00. If parents/carers are unable to make this payment, then they should contact Mrs Jenner in the school office on 0191 5536093 to discuss a payment plan or to see if they may be considered to apply for a school bursary.
The reason school will subsidise this visit is to enable all children to participate in this wonderful curriculum visit. Children will enjoy fun outdoor activities which will develop their physical, social and communication skills in a magnificent setting in the last week of term. The trip even includes an evening Christmas meal!

In May, pupils in year 4 and year 5 were invited to a Brass Play Day at Hetton Lyons School. Along with 10 other schools, our orchestra practised in preparation for a celebration concert in the afternoon. Pupils were really excited with the opportunity to perform in front of children from other schools.

We wrote a persuasive letter to Theresa May imploring her to reconsider HS2. Some of our letters were so persuasive, we decided to send them straight to 10 Downing Street!

We had some excellent creations for the Easter Egg competition – some of us were incredibly competitive! Can you spot the Eggs Factor? Or the Egg-traction? How about any minions lurking about?

In May we visited the new Wear Crossing in Sunderland to complete our half termly project on Bridges. We discovered how the bridge is going to rejuvenate certain areas of Sunderland and how it is going to have a positive impact on the wider North Eastern region. We are now determined to be surveyors, engineers or construction workers!
