General Election

We held our own General Election in Year 6. Each table was assigned a major political party at random and had to elect their party leader. From there, the children designed their own party posters and wrote speeches, as well as taking questions from the audience and then casting their votes. Excellent work by all involved- well done!

Results were as follows:
Green - 48%
Labour- 15%
Reform- 15%
Liberal Democrats- 11%
Conservatives- 11%

Barnes Park Fun Day

We had a wonderful day at the Barnes Park Family Event.  

London Residential

The Year 6’s have had an amazing time on their residential trip to London.

   

La Petite Creperie

Year 6 had a visit form Julien from La Petite Creperie. Julien gave us a short presentation before we polished off our best French phrases and ordered a delicious crepe!

Safetyworks!

Year 6 had an enjoyable learning experience participating safely in realistic situations illustrating every day hazards and how to prevent them. Working with Northumbria Police, , Nexus who run the Metro system, Local Authority Road Safety teams and RNLI they have learnt some valuable lessons in keeping safe in different circumstances.

Let's go fly a kite

We've been learning the song "Let's Go Fly a Kite" in our assembly, so we decided to purchase some kites and fly them ourselves.

Christmas Party

We had a fabulous Christmas party, where we showcased our impressive dance skills!

Stockeld Park

A wonderful visit to Stockeld Park in Wetherby..

Reflections, Refractions and Dispersion

We've had an enjoyable afternoon exploring reflections, refractions, and dispersion as part of our science lesson.

Forest School

Thank you to Sandhill View School for hosting the forest school session and allowing us to engage in some fun outdoor learning activities.

Eden Camp

Hazel class had a wonderful day at the Eden Camp Modern History Theme Museum in Malton. The children enjoyed exploring the museum's numerous huts, discovering military vehicles from World War Two, and having a blast in the war-themed play area.

Hazel and Cedar visited Eden Camp as part of their learning about life during WWII

Ukulele

In music class, we're still learning the ukulele and practicing new chords.

Beach School

We had a fantastic time at Roker Beach during our beach school session. We took part in various activities such as rock pooling, building shelters, making sandcastles, and identifying rocks and shells.

 

Blood

Year 6 have had a messy time creating blood this afternoon! We looked at the roles of red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma and platelets, before creating what our blood is made of.
