News
School Council
Cedar Class have carefully chosen their representative for the School Council. The school councillor meets regularly with the headteacher, Mrs. J, to discuss important school matters and to provide a voice for the class.

Bikeability
Year 5 children will be taking part in Bikeability training from Monday 13th to Friday 17th October 2025. If your child doesn’t have their own bike, please try to borrow one from a friend or relative if possible. Also, ensure they have everything they need for the sessions, including a helmet and waterproof clothing if necessary. This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to build their confidence, improve their cycling skills, and develop a greater sense of independence. This is just for the Year 5 children. Year 4 children will take part in Bikeability next year.

Materials Investigation
Today, we carried out a Science investigation to explore and compare different materials. 🧪🔍
We used our observation skills to test and discuss the properties of each material like real scientists! 🌟

Exploring Late Adulthood
We’ve been exploring division using our 2, 5 and 10 times tables, confidently grouping numbers and writing our own equations.
Next, we’re excited to apply these skills to solve tricky problems independently.

Growing and Changing
Today, Year 5 explored how we develop from infancy to age 9 in preparation for the school nurse visit.
The children showed maturity and curiosity while learning about how we grow and change.

World Book Day 2026
Take a look at some of the amazing costumes this year! We have enjoyed lots of book-related activities, including a treasure hunt outside in the beautiful weather that we’re having at the moment!

Final Still Life Creations
This afternoon, we’ve been busy completing our final still life pieces in Art.
We’re so proud of the focus and creativity shown by everyone—what a fantastic way to finish!

Exploring Scale and Proportion in Art

Nissan
Cedar Class had an exciting visit to the Nissan body shop today! We enjoyed a tour of the area, watched the robots work their magic, and tested our reflexes before taking part in some hands-on activities. The children loved developing and practising skills that factory workers use every day, and it was a fantastic learning experience for everyone.

The Solar System
In class this week, we explored the idea that the Earth is nearly spherical and recreated the planets of the Solar System using fruit to represent their sizes. We were amazed by the huge size differences between the planets! We also measured the distances between them, though on a much smaller scale to fit our classroom.
PE
Some great action shots from our P.E session this week!
Popup Title
In Art, we explored a variety of watercolour techniques before combining them to create our own mini interpretations of space-themed artwork. It was a creative and inspiring session full of vibrant colours and imaginative designs!

Syncopation
We’re learning about syncopation in Music, playing instruments to demonstrate the rhythm. We also practiced following different tempos, though allegro proved to be quite tricky!

Fact Files
We collaborated to create a fact file, putting our understanding of organisational features into practice. We included headings, added captions for photographs, and carefully read paragraphs to add appropriate sub-headings.

Countries
We worked together as ‘countries’ in Geography and were challenged to make a bookmark using only a limited set of resources provided at the start. It quickly became clear that other countries had different materials we needed, so our trading skills soon came into play!

Useful Links and Learning
Top Marks - Top Marks offers a wide range of fun and interactive games and activities that help support learning in maths and English. These resources are free to access at home and are a great way for children to practise their skills while having fun.
Letter-Join - To help children develop clear and confident handwriting, we use the Letter-join programme in regular handwriting sessions. We adapt the activities where needed to make sure they suit the needs of every child. The great news is that Letter-join can also be used at home!
