How to Become a Governor
Becoming a school governor is a valuable and rewarding way to serve your local community and help Ambler’s children achieve more.
We’d love to hear from anyone who feels they have the skills, experience and enthusiasm to be a governor. Please speak to Mrs Jones, Headteacher who can explain the process, what vacancies are available and what the role involves.
What can I expect?
You’ll be joining a hard-working and committed group of governors who take their leadership role very seriously.
Governors usually serve a four year term of office once appointed or elected, and broadly speaking each year you’ll need to:
- attend six meetings of the full governing body during each school year - one every half term
- attend sub- committee meetings where necessary
- visit the school and prepare a follow up report for your fellow governors
- get involved with some case work in respect of pupils or staff, e.g. attending a disciplinary hearing
