Thorney Close Primary School

"Where Learning Blossoms..."

Health and Safety

At Thorney Close Primary School, the health, safety and wellbeing of all our pupils, staff, parents, visitors and contractors are of the highest importance. We are committed to ensuring that our entire school site is a safe and secure environment where everyone can learn, work and visit with confidence.

To achieve this, the school has a range of policies, procedures and risk assessments in place that are regularly reviewed and updated. These documents help us identify potential risks and put effective control measures in place to prevent accidents or harm.

We follow all relevant guidance and legislation from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the Department for Education (DfE) and the Local Authority. In partnership with the Local Authority, we also undertake Health and Safety audits to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.

Our approach ensures that:

  • The school environment is maintained to a high standard of safety and cleanliness.

  • All staff receive appropriate health and safety training.

  • Risk assessments are in place for activities, both on and off site.

  • Emergency procedures are clearly communicated and regularly practiced.

  • Everyone understands their role in maintaining a safe and positive school environment.

Below are a number of key documents that help guide and support our commitment to health and safety.  Together, these documents reflect our proactive approach to keeping everyone in our school community safe.
