Thorney Close Primary School

"Where Learning Blossoms..."

Attendance 26.11.24

This week’s attendance stands at 92.7%. In recent weeks, there has been a decline in attendance. As a result, next week we will be sending letters and registration certificates to parents of children whose attendance is below or just above 90%. This level of attendance either classifies them as a persistent absentee or places them at risk of becoming one.

We will also be arranging attendance meetings at school in the coming weeks. These meetings will be led by Mrs Jones, alongside Donna (School Early Help worker) and mrs Jenner, to discuss our concerns if your child is a persistent absentee. Our aim is to work together with you to improve your child's attendance and minimise the risk of you receiving an attendance fine.

We would also like to remind parents and carers that it is essential to contact the school if your child is absent. Please follow these procedures:

  • Contact us as soon as possible on the first day of absence, before 8.45 am. The school has an answerphone available for messages if no one is available to take your call - telephone 0191 5250808
  • Email the school at parents@thorneycloseprimaryschool.co.uk before 8.45 am.
Speak to a member of the Senior Leadership Team, who are at the school gates each morning.
  • Call into school and report to reception.

Your co-operation in following these steps ensures that we can work together to support your child’s attendance.

Thank you
