Saplings Class 2024-2025
Take a look below at our wonderful learning, visits and experiences.
Pictures will be added throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.
We've noticed that there has been a lot of bird activity in the Nursery Garden lately! We worked together to fill some of the bird feeders with seeds and special bird butter. We also made two nest building stations to help the birds find what they need to build their nests.
What a lovely day for our first minibus adventure! We have had a fantastic morning, I wonder where our next adventure will take us?
There have been some fabulous creations in our mud kitchen. The children demonstrated teamwork and creativity as they made pies, soups and smoothies!
In Nursery, we found out about the Muslim festival of Eid. Our home corner was decorated with Eid decorations and photos of celebratory foods. We had some lovely clothes to wear and shared stories about Ramadan and Eid!
The whole school is exploring the story of The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. Take a look at some of the snail trails the children have made!
It's been a colourful morning in Nursery! The children looked amazing in their 80's outfits. We got to dress up and dance along to popular songs from the 80's all whilst supporting Comic Relief. Happy Red Nose Day!
We've had a fantastic morning celebrating books in nursery. We had so many lovely conversations about our favourite books, thank you for making the morning special!
We've had a very busy morning in nursery celebrating the numbers that are all around us. The children looked fantastic in their number outfits!
Thank you to our nursery families for helping us celebrate Valentine's Day! We had a wonderful time.
Continuing to learn about Chinese New Year, we made dragons and painted cherry blossoms!
This week in Nursery, we learned all about Chinese New Year. We found China on a globe and looked at pictures of The Great Wall Of China!
Early friendships promote social and emotional development. Here are some lovely examples of our friendships!
We had a lovely Christmas party! It was full of excitement, music and laughter.
We are thrilled to present the cast of our Nursery Nativity for Christmas 2024!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The children have been fabulous at decorating our Christmas trees, they also used some fantastic descriptive words for the decorations.
Thank you for your support on Children in Need Day! The children did a range of exciting activities including decorating Pudsey bears and watching the Children in Need Gladiator challenge.
This morning, our 'wake up, shake up' activity was very popular! It may have had something to do with a little pig who likes to jump in muddy puddles.
The children showed lots of interest in finding out about their teeth. We used our scissor skills to make a paper toothbrush and found out foods for healthy teeth!
This week in nursery we have been thinking about how we take care of our teeth! We started by closely looking at our own teeth using little mirrors.
We’ve been really busy in nursery over the last few weeks learning our routines. We help with everything from washing our breakfast dishes to sharing out snacks. We’re also becoming really independent in choosing our own activities inside and out. We’ve listened to lots of stories too. One of our favourite stories has been 'Titch'.
The story, 'Brown bear, brown bear what do you see?' is still proving a very popular choice in our book area.
This week in music time with Jen we have continued to focus on our listening skills. We are really beginning to be able to listen and identify different sounds. We are getting so good at hearing the difference between a tambourine, a triangle, a cow bell and a maraca that Jen hid them under a blanket before she played them. Then she let some of us try too.
During music time this week we found out that everything makes a sound. We explored animals sounds, listened to everyday household sounds and began to find out about the sounds of some instruments, including tambourines, triangles and maracas. Jen also introduced us to The Musical World of Mr Zoink.
We have begun to use our beautiful, colourful parachute in nursery. Apart from being lots of fun it helps us to develop rhythm which is really important for our speech and language development. It mostly needs us to use the muscles in our upper body which we need to develop before we can begin to hold a pencil properly. Parachute play also encourages teamwork which helps to promote turn taking and build friendships too.
It was so lovely to welcome so many of our children back to nursery this morning. Together we explored to find the parts of nursery that were the same and those that were different. We were also treated to visit from Jen as this year we will be having our music time on a Thursday.
