Tuesday 11 June 2024 Eden Colliery Cup Huge congratulations to our Y5/6 football team as they came runners up in the Eden Colliery cup at Hill View. The team were excellent- winning three out of four matches and playing some great football. Well done all!

Tuesday 12 March 2024 Sunderland Schools Triathlon We had an amazing morning at the Sunderland School's Triathlon, participating in biking, swimming, and running, and having the opportunity to meet the mayor.

Monday 3 July 2023 Football Results - Year 5/6 Team Friendly Excellent work tonight by our mixed Year 5/6 team in some friendly matches at Silksworth Academy.4-0 3-2 0-0 Great to see the goals being shared around the team and the children were fantastic representatives of our school as always.Well done!

Monday 24 April 2023 County Finalists HUGE congratulations to our school netball team, who have qualified for the Tyne and Wear county finals in June! Not only that, but we finished in FIRST place for the whole of Sunderland after winning two and drawing one of our games tonight against three excellent teams.

Thursday 30 March 2023 Sporting Success It’s been a busy week of sport this week at Thorney Close…Last night, our netball team did well to win one game convincingly and were unlucky to lose their next game against a very good Rickleton team. As always, they represented our school brilliantly- well done!Earlier today, our football team resumed their league season with a fantastic 3-1 win against South Hylton and followed it up with a 0-0 against St Leonard’s. Great work everyone.

Wednesday 8 March 2023 6 in a row! Huge well done to our school netball team, who have now won 6 in a row! The first two games of the ‘A’ league were won 4-2 and 3-1 tonight at the Beacon of Light.

Friday 10 February 2023 Under 16 Tennis World Championship Year 6 were lucky enough to be invited to the Puma Centre to watch the under 16’s world championship tennis tournament. The Children had the pleasure of meeting the Mayoress of Sunderland, she said our children "were very polite and a pleasure to meet".

Tuesday 6 September 2022 Tour of Britain - 6th September 2022 The Tour of Britain riders cycle right past school this afternoon. We will go out and cheer them on as they race swiftly towards the city centre. We might be a little later than 3.15pm but it is a great event for the children to see. Please make sure they have a coat if it rains.I understand parents and carers might also have difficulty collecting tonight with all the road closures around the city, but don't worry we'll look after the children until you arrive.

Thursday 24 March 2022 Year 6 Netball Stars After winning their final two group games last night, the Y6 netball team have finished as one of the top 3 teams in Sunderland. This means that they have qualified for the Tyne and Wear county finals later this month- which is an incredible achievement! Massive congratulations team- you have all been amazing.

Thursday 17 February 2022 Year 6 Netball Victories Amazing performances from the Y6 netball team. Yesterday they racked up 8-0 and 9-0 victories in their two league games at the Beacon of Light.Huge well done to all involved- you were all brilliant!
